Monee is the first Will County exit heading south, which makes it the shortest commute on the corridor and the first place city buyers discover that their budget buys a yard.
The Metra Electric line ends one town over at University Park, so a downtown commute is a short drive to the train rather than a long drive to the Loop. Monee Reservoir, a Will County forest preserve with fishing and paddling, sits just southwest of the village.
Schools are Crete-Monee District 201-U, shared with Crete, and housing runs from the older village core to subdivisions built in the last two decades.
